Promoting China-Vietnam relations in the new era to a new level
At the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong paid an official visit to China from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2. The two leaders held talks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Oct. 31. The two sides agreed to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Vietnam in the new era to a new level.
Nguyen Phu Trong is the first foreign leader Xi Jinping met with after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The visit is also Nguyen Phu Trong's first overseas visit after the 13th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. At a time when both China and Vietnam are entering a new stage of development in their socialist endeavors, the top leaders of the two parties agreed to consolidate traditional friendship, strengthen strategic communication, enhance political mutual trust and properly manage differences, pointing out the direction for the development of China-Vietnam relations in the new era from a strategic perspective.
